About Aligned Vote
Aligned Vote matches you to your elected representatives based on how your stated political views compare to how those representatives actually vote, sign, sponsor, and act. It is a non-partisan civic engagement tool.
Most political tools sort people and politicians into two teams. Aligned Vote starts somewhere else: with the idea that party identity is not the same as political identity.
What we're trying to do
Surface cross-party agreement. When matching reveals that you agree with politicians across party lines, the tool is working as intended. Real records rarely line up neatly with party labels.
Widen the choice set. Independent and third-party candidates are matched on equal footing with major-party incumbents — the field is bigger than two names.
Our promise: transparency
Every match score traces back to specific bills, votes, and executive actions, each shown with a confidence level. We don't endorse candidates and we don't take ad money. When we don't have a clear record on an issue, we say so rather than guessing.
Aligned Vote is an early-stage project. At this stage it covers federal offices, starting with a Colorado seed of representatives, and is expanding. See our methodology for how the matching works.
